Oklahoma Mission of Mercy

To see a 100-chair dental clinic materialize in a matter of hours — and  hundreds of volunteer dental professionals and lay volunteers from all over the state gather together in one place to ease pain and change lives — is nothing short of miraculous. And it’s a miracle we get to see every February in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Mission of Mercy

OkMOM

OkMOM is a two-day free dental clinic event designed to meet the critical needs of patients by providing donated dental care to as many adults and children as time and volunteers will allow. Treatment is given on a first-come, first-served basis and there is no eligibility or income requirement to seek treatment.

The event is a fully-functional dental facility with 100 patient chairs, and offers a variety of services including cleanings, fillings, extractions, and limited anterior (front teeth) crowns.

Thanks to volunteer dental professionals and others, 17,381 patients have received dental care valued at more than $14.2 million since 2010. OkMOM events have been held in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, McAlester, Lawton, Enid, Woodward, and Durant.

With an annual budget of about $150,000, each OkMOM event delivers more than $1.2 million worth of donated dental services!

Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation (DDOKF) partners with the Oklahoma Dental Association (ODA) and the Oklahoma Dental Foundation (ODF) to produce this annual event. ODA organizes and operates the event and recruits crucial volunteers; and ODF serves as fiscal sponsor and raises local funds.

DDOKF serves as the event underwriter and contributes $125,000 - $150,000 each year and dozens of Delta Dental employees volunteer. Thousands of dollars in cash, supplies, food, and other items are donated by generous sponsors.
